Being a film student we seem to excessivly buy film posters even when we dont have the space for them in our homes, or in this case, for me, when they already have a ‘My Neighbour Totoro’ 9 piece poster that takes up a whole wall. Yet this, I must have! Olly Moss who many will know (or not) for his artwork for Resistance 3, has to be my favourite artist. So i guess its justified to get this right….

Artist Shintaro Ohata has just finished up a solo exhibition at the Yukari Art Contemprary in Tokyo, Japan. This Hiroshima, Japan-born artist is known for his ability to show us everyday life in a cinematic way placing sculptures in front of the paintings creating a combination of both 2D with 3D.

Doodle Art - Sagaki Keita

If you were to look at Sagaki Keita’s work from really up-close you’d only see familiar doodles like we all used to do back in school, during boring classes. But as you slowly back away, you realize that with every step the doodles seem to blend together until they form an incredibly detailed version of a classic work of art, like the Mona Lisa or an old Roman statue. This is the kind of art work I would love to have dotted around my house when i reach my thirties, It will make me feel mature and sophisticated with a strong hold on my childish roots which i still am yet to grow out of.

Artist Ian Davie has found a natural and sustainable canvas to paint his masterpieces on – swan feathers. Taking upto a whole week to complete a single feather his light works sell for… Lets just say, quite a bit. Still not impressed though, do it on a live Swan then we’ll talk!

Seems like anything that ‘links’ with Zelda recently i seem to blog about. Ryan Crabhearst is an artist in the simplest form from Syney. I came across him after seeing this picture on tumblr. Tingle’s a douche.

A lot like Michael Paulus who did the Skeletal Systems Art i posted a while back, Jason Freeny goes into the details of what our inner childhood icons look like through his sculptures and art shows. I dont understand why this stuff intreagues me so much, but to each to their own… Example: I have a friend who would like to eat human meat, no thanks!

I have recently been finding art for the house as im living here for another year, i thought it would be nice to brighten up the slightly barren walls and this picture is perfect. Bio: Marnie Brumder has loved to paint as long as she can remember. Art to her is about visual story telling. This picture always reminds me of ‘Life of Pi’, one of the best books ive read… ever!

Ive realised that i hate Tumblr’s that just post pretentious arty picture after picture for the sake of posting. Although you get a good picture now and again im tired of seeing it, either post something that makes you laugh or think, is this really worth posting, or just another picture, if the latter, dont bother! Ever wondered what the cartoon characters you grew up with looked like inside… Me niether, until now. Michael Paulus is the genius behind the skeletal Systems Art that i keep seeing crop up with a random photo here and there on tumblr. Acording to him, he wanted to “take a select few of these popular characters and render their skeletal systems as [he] imagined they might look if one truly had eye sockets half the size of its head, or fingerless hands, or feet comprising 60% of it’s body mass.”

Yuta Onoda, originally from Japan, is an illustrator / painter based in Toronto, Canada. From Japan and now in Canada, whats not to love about this guy. He has been shaping his art aesthetic through various forms of media, finding new avenues to express himself.

Although not an artist myself, this is inspiring. Bio: My ‘Little People Project’ started in 2006. It involves the remodelling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which I then place and leave on the street. It is both a street art installation project and a photography project. The street-based side of my work plays with the notion of surprise and I aim to encourage city-dwellers to be more aware of their surroundings. The scenes I set up, more evident through the photography, and the titles I give these scenes aim to reflect the loneliness and melancholy of living in a big city, almost being lost and overwhelmed.

Viktor Hertz is a freelance photographer and graphic designer with a passion for film, music and funny youtube videos. So its no doubt to why i like him. Artist Pavel Lagutin took this ordinary photo of a kitten and turned it into the electrifying Pokemon known as Pikachu. Awwwww Yeah! This needs to be done genetically, then i’ll be truley happy.
